- Raced a limited 250 Supercross season, his best result was third-place at the season
finale in Las Vegas. Emig took second-place overall at the Sacramento round of the AMA
National Motocross series, along with eight additional top-10 overall results. He won the
$100,000 first-place prize at the second annual U.S. Open Supercross race in Las Vegas.
Raced with factory Kawasaki team, but was released by the team just prior to season's end.
1998 - Emig took three podium finishes in the 250cc Supercross series, but withdrew after round 10 of 16 to recuperate from injuries. He had a slow start in the 250cc Mazda truck Motocross Nationals, but by mid-season had strung together four overall wins and a podium finish, and was in contention for the series championship...unfortunately, injuries forced Emig's withdrawal from competition with two motocross rounds remaining on the schedule... raced for Team Kawasaki. 1997 - Earned both the 250cc National Motocross and Supercross Championships..Had seven overall wins in 250cc Motocross and never finished outside the top-five...Had five 250cc Supercross wins and three podium finishes...Member of U.S. Motocross Des Nations Team for the seventh time... Won the AMA/Speedvision Athlete of the Year Award...Rode for Team Kawasaki. 1996 - AMA 250cc National Motocross Champion... Won the St. Louis Supercross keeping Jeremy McGrath from having a perfect season... Won four 250cc Motocross Nationals (Mt. Morris, Pa., Buchanan, Mich., Millville, Minn. and Delmont, Pa.)...
